Sony Unveils Xperia Z2 With Snapdragon 801 Processor, 4K Recording & 5.2 Inch Screen In MWC

Sony unveiled its latest addition to its Z1 series in the shape of Z1, with 5.2 inches of display and Snapdragon 801 processor which is so call performance kicker by Qualcomm with 3gb of ram.

Display

Sony has added Live Coloured Led with Triluminous X Reality Display in Xperia Z2 and not even that they have come with .2 inches bigger display in their new Device as compared to its predecessor that packs 5 inches of Display. However Z2 resolution and 423 pixles per inch remains same as  Z1 that runs at 1920 x 1080 resolution.

Hardware:

Z2 is powered with mighty Snapdragon 801 “performance kicker” processor with a 2.3 GHZ clock speed and 3gb of Ram. According to Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 has 45% faster camera sensor, 28% Faster graphics even though it has Adreno 330 Gpu which is found in Z1, 14% Faster CPU and 18% Faster Ds as compared to Z1 Snapdragon 800 processor.

Design

Despite the fact Z2 sports 5.2 inches of display the Z2 is thinner and lighter than Xperia Z1. The design is strikingly familiar, reflecting exactly what you expect from the Xperia Z family. The phone is constructed from a solid aluminium frame, with those neat chamfered edges, and a tempered glass front and rear panel. There isn't much to differentiate it from the Xperia Z1 from the outside but there are changes. The phone is now slimmer (not as wide) and lighter. The difference in weight is noticeable when you hold both at the same time. It's now 8.2mm thick, 3mm thinner than before.
However the increase in the screen size to 5.2-inches means this smartphone is marginally taller than before. Whichever way you look at it, this is still a large device, although we don't have final measurements. There's still a healthy width of bezel above and below the display that seems superfluous. If you were happy with the size of the original Z1, then you'll have no concerns here. Moreover device is Water and Dusk Resistant like its predecessor, but a big improvement in the phone is its speaker grill which finally makes it way at the front of phone as compared to downside frame of Z1 which will definitely boost sound.

Software

Sony Xperia Z2 will comes up with Android 4.4 Kitkat and runs Sony UI.

Internal Memory

There's 16GB of built-in storage, while a microSD slot will add upto 64GB if needed.

Connectivity

Z2 packs 3G & 4G LTE connectivity, HD Voice along with NFC, Bluetooth, Wifi, GPS, AGPS, Wifi Tethering and packs all other connectivity options that we have on Z1.

Battery

Z2 is equipped with 3200 mAh battery which seems to me better than Xperia Z1 3000 mAh battery.

Camera

Z2  has 20 MP camera at the back which is capble of recording 1080p (4k) videos which is big improvement interms of video recording found in Z1 On the front of Z2 we have 2 Mega pixel camera which is similar to its predecessor.

Final Verdict

To give my final verdict we are going to use a SWOT analysis below

Strength

Z2 packs a considerable beautiful 5.2 inches display with Live Colour LED with a superior design, better battery,  4k video recording and strong processor and Ram than its predecessor.

Weakness
One of the weaknesses I have found in Z2 at some extent  is its Snapdragon 801 which is a good upgrade from Snapdragon 800, but now companies are planning to punch Snapdragon 805 processor which will support Ultra Hd graphics and packs Adreno 420 Gpu.

Opportunity

3gb of ram is the biggest opportunity Sony can achieve with Snapdragon 801 processor. However as i have said we are soon have Snapdragon 805 processor in the market and who knows with 4gbs of Ram.

Threats

The biggest threat to Sony Xperia Z2  is Samsung Galaxy S5 and may be in the future Lg G3, Nexus 6 and Note 4. However mean time we can witness Z3 in future to compete against these flasgships

Z2  is expected to fall on shelves on March sometime, price is not confirmed yet
