SAMSUNG GALAXY MEGA 6.3 WITH 4G LTE COMING IN JULY

DISPLAY:

Samsung Galaxy Mega offers 6.3 inch LCD panel sports 720x1280 pixels HD resolution with 233ppi pixel density. This is not a a full HD display and i dont know the reason why Samsung has come up with this device, if they are going to release Note 3 soon. However, display of Mega is really excellent in comparison to other 480x800 pixels mobile even though it has not got Full Hd Display. Peak brightness is slightly above average for an LCD panel, at 450 nits in the middle, but has uneven distribution, going to sub-400 nits at the corners, which is typical for such large panels. While brightness seems enough, we'd wish a bit less reflectivity outside under direct sunlight, when viewing the image on the screen is a challenge.

HARDWARE:

Mega 6.3 is equipped with 1.7 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with Adreno 305 Gpu and 1.5 gb of ram. However,  its questionable, how this device is going to perform against S4 and even against  Note 2 in daily usage if it has lower clock speed than both of them. This is a same cpu speed which we will see in S4 Mini, but offcourse with 4.3 display.

INTERNAL MEMORY:

The Mega 6.3 comes with the non-mega 8 GB/ 16 Gb of internal storage, but you have a microSD card slot for expansion up 64 Gb, situated right on top of the micro SIM compartment, next to the generous.

CONNECTIVITY:

Mega 6.3  it packs the usual options such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and A-GPS, Wifi Hotspot, NFC, Infrared and as well as it has 4g LTE for fast internet speed from service provider.

CAMERA:

Mega offers 8 Megapixel camera with 1080p videos recording and offers 1.9 mega pixels camera on the front for video calling. Camera itself is not as good as we have seen on Htc One, Note 2 and S4, but its take considerable photos from it.

BATTERY:

Mega 6.3 equipped wih 3200 mAh batter which seems to me good, but due to a huge size of this phone it gives me a second thought that it can be bigger than this because it is only 100 mAh more powerful than Note 2 battery.

DESIGN:

The first thing that catches your eyes is the large 6.3-inch full-HD TFT display, but without Amoled Display which is questionable in the eyes of some people. However, some users may actually prefer the TFT screen. I found the screen to be pretty bright and sharp, so I have no issues there, but a phone itself is very hefty and its not easy to handle it with one hand. Mega measures 167.6 x 88 x 8 mm and weighs 199 grams. Measurement illustrates that this hone is heavier than Note 2 as well as it is huge in measurements. However phone is not too much thicker in comparison to Note 2 and Lg Optimus G Pro.

SOFTWARE:

Mega 6.3 runs on  Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean), the Mega comes with some of the software features loaded on the S4 and Note 2.  Lock screen is customizable and the quick settings found on the drop-down notification bar. It also comes with Samsung's Air View, Smart Screen, screen mirroring and S Beam functions. However it lacks some of the features that we have on S4 like scroll detection, auto-pause and gesture controls that let you control the screen with your hands to browse Web sites.

FINAL VERDICT:

To round up all the things we have discussed above Mega 6.3 sits in the middle of Phone and Tablet and its better to give it a name Phablet because its huge for your jeans pocket and give you trouble if you want to control it using one hand. However, according to Samsung this is a budget phone with Huge Display and there is no doubt that if you love big screen mobiles this will be eye catching, but due to slower Hardware specs and 8 mega pixel camera some people prefer to wait for newly anticipated Note 3. Mega 6.3 will be available in the beginning of July and cost about £350 to £450 depending on storage options.
