M8 Message Lag Issue
ProblemI have been having a lot of trouble with messages between only a few people on my HTC One M8. I am running Lollipop and if I open a chat in the Messages App, it does a few things. 1 If I’m already in the conversation, when I receive a message it will pop up on the top and sound, then take a few seconds to appear in the conversation. 2 If I open the conversation it will take at least 5 seconds to load the conversation. and 3 if i type a message it will lag and only type piece wise the message. I have tried everything from restarting to clearing the cache and nothing has worked. Any ideas on how to fix it?
Solution: This lag issue may be caused by data from the previous software version that has not been completely removed during the Lollipop update process. If restarting and clearing the cache fails to resolve the issue then you should consider doing a factory reset. Make sure to back up your phone before proceeding.
  • Press and hold the Power button
  • Tap Power off.
  • Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  • Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down key.
  • Release the Volume Down key when the three Android images appear on the bottom of the screen.
  • Press the Volume Down key twice to move the cursor from FASTBOOT to FACTORY RESET.
  • Press the Power key to perform the master reset.
M8 Error Code 38 On Purchased Content
ProblemHello, I had an update over a month ago and all purchased tv shows and movies pop up an error code-38. All of the content was stored to my micro sd. It says a streaming error but what streaming? It’s already saved to device. Also previously download games pop up the same code but only by developer glu. I called sprint support and did an update. Didn’t work, then factory reset my my phone, Fun! Still nothing. I am one month from upgrade and wasn’t too impressed with HTC m9 release but if it doesn’t share the same issue I’ll upgrade. However I’d like to fix this and bide my time for the November smartphone war. Thanx
Solution:  This error is most likely caused by a glitch in the Google Play Movies & TV app. Follow the steps listed below to resolve this issue.
  • From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Scroll to ‘PHONE,’ then tap Apps.
  • Scroll left to the ALL tab.
  • Tap the Google Play Movies & TV application.
  • Tap Uninstall updates
  • Restart your phone
You will now be able to play your purchased content. Make sure to setup the storage location of the app as this will be reset to default.
M8 Not Connecting To HTC Sync Manager After Lollipop Update
ProblemGood day, I backed up my phone prior to factory reset of phone. After factory reset, lollipop update automatically started to download. After update, I cannot connect to HTC Sync Manager. I was hoping to restore my home pages, but would be happy to be able to connect to a PC. I’ve tried to connect on two different PCs, one running win7 professional, the other win8.1. Also used two different USB cables. I think it could be a driver issue, but device manager shows that all devices are running normally.
Solution: There are several other owners of this phone who are also complaining of the same issue. To resolve this issue try to completely uninstall the HTC Sync Manager from your computer then download and install the latest version from the HTC website.
If the problem still persists then one fix that works is to install the AndroidHtcSync2.apk file in your phone. This apk file is present in the internal storage of your phone and needs to be installed.
First go to Start menu > Settings > Security > Check Unknown Sources.
Next go to Start menu > File Manager > AndroidHtcSync2.apk > install.
Connect your phone to HTC Sync Manager, it should be detected by now.

ProblemGreetings! I’m hoping you can help me resolve an issue with an automatic OTA update. After downloading the update and trying to install it I get the attached screen. My phone isn’t rooted and is currently:

  • Software version 4.20.654.10
  • HTC SDK API level 6.55

  • Build number 4.20.654.10 CL476182 release-keys
Any help or advice you can offer will be sincerely appreciated. Thanks and have a great day!
Solution: From the image that you sent it look like an error occurred during the installation of the update. What you should do right now is to back up your phone data. After backing up your data proceed with doing a factory reset.
  • Press and hold the Power button
  • Tap Power off.
  • Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  • Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down key.

Download and install the update again.
M8 YouTube Videos Not Loading In Chrome
ProblemHello, Recently I can’t play videos on YouTube using Chrome. The page loads but when I click the vid, the screen goes where the vid is goes black and never loads. The YouTube app works, vids on Facebook work, but if I want to show someone a vid a YouTube and use chrome, it doesn’t work. This is a new problem for my phone. Any suggestions?
Solution: This may be an issue relate to the Chrome app. Try to clear the cache and data of the browser then see if the issue still persists.
  • From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Scroll to ‘PHONE,’ then tap Apps.
  • Scroll left to the ALL tab.
  • Tap the Chrome application.
  • Tap Clear Data.
  • Tap OK.
  • Tap Clear Cache.
M8 Condensation Inside Lens Causing Blurred Photos
ProblemHi, I have had an M8 for about 6 months and I have noticed that photos have become blurred. On inspection, it appears as though there is condensation inside the lens. Any ideas?
Solution: Moisture is entering your phone causing this condensation to occur. A quick solution to this is to turn off your phone then place it under a hair dryer. The hot air blowing to the camera lens of your phone will evaporate the condensation. This is however a temporary solution as condensation will still occur if your phone is exposed to moisture. If this issue happens regularly then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it examined.
M8 No Sound On Internet Calls
ProblemI’m have a problem with my HTC m 8, if I am making internet calls I can’t hear, but if I am normal call on phone I can hear, I belive is not network problems, pls help me out. thanks
Solution: Try connecting to a different Wi-Fi connection when making your Internet calls. If the issue persists then check on the settings of the app you are using when making the call. Make sure all settings are correct. You should also clear the cache and data of the app you are using when making the Internet calls.
  • From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Scroll to ‘PHONE,’ then tap Apps.
  • Scroll left to the ALL tab.
  • Tap the application.

M8 Calls Can Only Be Heard Through Loudspeaker
ProblemHey. I have recently got a new HTC M8 due to loosing my old one, I got this one through I insurance but I recently downloaded the update and the only way people can hear me is through loudspeaker. Is there any way of resolving this? I recently tried the factory reset but it automatically downloads the update again. Thanks
Solution: Did this issue just occur after the software update? Whether you are on loudspeaker or not the same microphone is still being used. This means that this issue is most likely software related. You should first make sure that no more software updates are available for your phone before doing a factory reset. Once the factory reset is complete make sure that your data connection is turned off (for mobile and Wi-Fi) then try placing a call.
M8 Screen Dark Around The Edges
ProblemHello, Recently, with my HTC one m8, an issue occurred with my screen. It appeared to get darker. Looking St the surrounds of the screen, it appears that a previous screen is burnt in around the edges. This occurred randomly, the phone was not plugged in at the time, and was not dropped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Solution: You need to determine first if this is a software or hardware related problem.
The best way to eliminate any software related causes is by doing a factory reset. Make sure to back u your phone data before proceeding.
If the display is still dark around the edges then this is most likely a hardware related issue. It’s likely there is something wrong with the display. You should bring your phone to an authorized service center for further checking.
M8 Can’t Answer Or Decline Calls
Problem: Help! I have had my Sprint HTC One M8 for just a month – but – here is what seems to be going wrong: When I receive a call the screen with “Decline” and “Answer” come up, but they are not responsive. No matter how many times I touch “Answer” nothing happens. Thanks in advance for your advice and help.
Solution: It’s very likely that the display is locked when this issue occurs. If so, then you will need to drag the answer or decline icon upward instead of tapping on it.
M8 Not Turning On After Software Update
ProblemI went to have my verizon service switched to my HTC One M8 and as I walked into the store it initiated a software update but once the software update completed it turned off and I havent been able to turn it back on since. I was instructed to put it on the charger since the update might have drained the battery. I was told after an hour to try to turn the phone back on. I did but it wouldn’t turn on, nothing happened. I decided to wait because with my previous HTC One it would sometimes take a day or two to turn on after a software update. Today is the second day and it won’t turn on still. I’ve tried the power button+volume combination and the power button but nothing. I’ve done it while on the charger and off the charger and still nothing. The red LED light blinks when the phone is on the charger though
Solution: Perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below to resolve the issue. Move on to the next steps if the issue still persists.
  • Press and hold the Power button for at least 20 seconds
  • Press and hold the Power button and Volume up button for at least 10 seconds
If that does not work then try to wipe the cache partition of your phone
  • Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  • Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down.
  • Release the Volume Down key when the three Android images appear on the bottom of the screen.
  • Press the Volume Down key once to move the cursor from FASTBOOT to RECOVERY.
  • Press the Power key to begin the wipe.
  • The device displays the bootup screen followed by a phone with a red triangle.
  • Press the Up Volume key and Power key at the same time.
  • Press the Down Volume key three times to select Wipe cache partition.
  • Press the Power key to initiate the wipe.
  • Wait until the phone displays Cache wipe complete.
  • Press the Power key to select Reboot system now.
If the issue persists then have your phone checked at an authorized service center.
M8 Device Management Is Running Symbol Pops Up
ProblemI have an HTC One M8 phone and this morning when I went to turn it on it had a device management is running symbol in the upper left corner. I can’t seem to get rid of it. Can you please tell me how to get rid of it and why it came up?
Solution: It’s a notification for an update. Just make sure your phone is connected to a Wi-Fi connection. Once the update has downloaded and installed this symbol will disappear.
