Dota is a game which calls many but chooses few. There are 100+ heroes in dots. When you start off, it is really hard to choose a hero at random. Picking heroes depend on several factors like game mode, number of players, heroes in the other team, what role you want to play etc. So depending on these factors, an experienced player chooses his hero.
