Samsung has announced the Galaxy Note 8 tablet with a stylus pen. Note 8 is 2.5 inches larger than the Note 2, which features a 5.5 inch screen and earned the title of "phablet".
SCREEN
Note 8 screen resolution is slightly higher than the iPad mini's, but lower than the resolution of Nexus 7. Within the eight-inch LCD panel, there is a resolution of 1280x800 pixels, at a pixel density of 189 pixels-per-inch in comparison to iPad mini's 1024x768-pixel resolution and 163 pixels-per-inch ( Nexus 7 has 1280 x 800 resolution with 216 pixel per inch). The image quality and texts look sharper than Ipad Mini display but not as good as on Nexus 7.
HARDWARE
Inside the Galaxy Note 8, there is a Quad-Core Exynos 4412 Cortex A-9 processor running at 1.6GHz with 2GB of RAM. Processor clock speed as well as ram seems to me better than Nexus 7 and Ipad Mini. This processor is also supported by Mali-400MP GPU to help gamers in gaming.
DESIGN AND DIMENSIONS
Note 8 is nearly identical to the shape of Note 2, that means its entirely made up of plastic from the back and front. Note 8 measures 210 x 135.9 x 8mm and weighs 338 grams. These dimensions tell us the story that Note 8 is 2.5 mm thinner than Nexus 7 but it is .8mm thicker than Ipad Mini. In weight Note 8 is 26grams heavier than Ipad Mini which is a big difference for some users, but it is only 2grams lighter than Nexus 7 that doesn't matter.
INTERNAL STORAGE
Note 8 offers 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded with microSD cards up to 64GB in size, so here offcourse Note 2 again mitigates Ipad Mini and Nexus 7.
CAMERA
A five-megapixel camera sits on the rear of Note 8 , with a 1.3-megapixel camera on the front. These camera specs seems to me similar to Ipad Mini but it has an advantage over Nexus 7.
CONNECTIVITY
It features 3G with speeds up to 21Mbps, but unlike its main rival the Ipad Mini and Nexus 7, there is no 4G LTE configuration. A Wi-Fi-only version will also be available.
BATTERY
Note 8 is beefed with 4600 mAh battery which seems to me pretty fair in comparison to its rival Ipad Mini.
FINAL VERDICT
By looking at the specification of Note 8, one of the main benefits the screen will give its users is the Note's ability to multi-task, where two apps can be displayed on-screen at the same time like Note 2, with powerful processor clock speed of note 8. Micro Sd Card Slot makes Note 8 more attractive to users over Ipad Mini. There is no doubt that Note 8 will give a hard competition to Ipad Mini, but Apple is going to announce Ipad Mini 2 this year and let see how they reply to Sammy Note 8.
The Galaxy Note 8 will be released in the UK sometime around the spring, there is no word about exact date and price. This crucial bit of information is missing for users. The new Galaxy Note has all the specs to make it an attractive alternative to the iPad mini, but without knowing cost one cannot make any judgments.
